Scorched Earth Policy; it may be time…

Posted by Mike O on January 31, 2008

It was going to be hard enough to vote for Mitt; ‘Shamnesty’ John, with his votes against tax cuts and ignorance (after all these years in government) of economic issues, would make even showing up at the polls in November downright painful.

Maybe it’s time we conservatives don’t.  We’ve become to the GOP what minorities are to the Democrat party; taken for grant and disrespected grieveously on the calculation we have no place else to go.  Both sides plan to terrorize us into showing up come November; look for horror stories on the Clintons to be prominent in GOP ads, and how the GOP wants to disenfranchise minorities in the Democrat ads (yeah, like actually identifying someone by picture ID is aimed at the color of one’s skin).

Maybe this is the year we simply shouldn’t fall for it.  Maybe it’s time to remind the GOP big shots that, without the conservatives, you don’t get elected.  The minorities should do the same on their side of the aisle, but they’ll get sold on the ‘historic nature’ of electing a woman to the White House (completely ignoring the back alley mugging of the black guy to do it).

One of my favorite books is Rober Heinlein’s ‘The Moon is a Harsh Mistress’; besides being a good read, it’s essentially a primer on revolutionary tactics. One of the most profound aspects is the concept of the need to make things worse first; it is the only way to break the majority’s apathy.  So maybe letting the Democrats rule the roost- taxing and legislating us into their ‘eutopia’- while the RINOs fall into uselessness.  A few years of that and the recession to follow would drive the point home.

But then…. voices call to me.  Nearly 4,000 voices.

They are the voices of America’s finest, voices calling from beyond the grave.

They remind me… we’re at war!

They remind me that the Democrats have repeatedly tried to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.  That their ‘hawk’ Hillary has had to ’suspend disbelief” with their commanding officer.  That, if any Democrat is elected, will face a huge effort by the terrorist base to challenge our resolve in Iraq with a Tet-like effort.  Does Hillary have the investment to take a beating from her own party to stay in?  I doubt it.

And her opponent in the Democratic primary- visionary and uplifting as he sounds- would immediately give up everything they made the ultimate sacrifice for by leaving Iraq immediately, the only thing remaining a welcome mat to every Islamic terrorist on Earth.

Because I promised to honor our military and their extreme sacrifice, the least I can do is postpone my participation in the day of reckoning the GOP so desperately needs until after the war.  The least we can do is vote for and support someone who has a clue of what kind of support they need.

And the Iraqi people need the chance; we owe them that at this point.

Scorched Earth will need to be postponed.

Gray considerations

Posted by Mike O on January 29, 2008

The first comment to this contemplation of mine on a dark future possibility proves exactly why I try to bring it up; that reaction is truly frightening.

The Hillary Divorce Poll

Posted by Mike O on January 28, 2008

‘Fess up, folks!  You know the BillHill team is toast if Obama comes through with a knockout punch.

How long do you think it will take?

If she survives the primary and loses in the General, I’ll put a new poll up.

On a technical note, it’s a real bummer that WordPress rejects form elements for polls like this.  Anybody who knows how to include a poll in a WordPress blog, leave a comment.

Update: So far, a plurality thinks Bill will be faster on the trigger than Hillary.  Hmmmm… not sure that would do his legacy any good, but it would certainly cap her humiliation this year.  I’m not sure I’d want to be around if she gets served with such papers right after getting licked by ‘Bambi’ Obama.

Hillary’s Race-Baiting

Posted by Mike O on January 26, 2008

Anybody who thinks her field troop’s comments and actions on the ‘race’ issue are not being directed by her, also believe her old sunday school teacher truly did just happen to be in the audience when a question arose on her religion, with commencement picture in hand.

She is clearly race-baiting the campaign to drive whites- and Hispanics- away from Barak, not concerned in the least she might do to the Democratic Party itself.  Her power is all that matters and that’s what is truly scary.  She figures she can pander her way back into the good graces of the African-American community in time for the general elections.  She’d likely select a black running partner to start, though I’d be surprised if it would be Barak; she truly despises him at this point and he has too much ‘rock-star’ quality to keep bottled up.   If that is insuffienct, count on her backalley knife-fighters to manufacture a race controversy involving the GOP.  Here assistants in the MSM (you can already call CNN the Clinton News Network) will pitch in as well.

It would be really sad if she gets away with it; the African-American community will continue to be taken for granted and disrespected by the Democratic Party as long as they pay attention to race baiters, whether black or white.

UPDATE: Here is an excellent assessment along the same lines. (from Instapundit)

Bottom line: I’m really rooting for Obama to slay the Clinton dragon; the Democrat Party, the United States, and the world will be better off for it.  In fact, if the Democrat race is more in doubt than the GOP when it becomes our turn in Texas to vote, I intend to help the lesser of two evils over amongst the Democrats.  Quite something for someone who has served as a GOP County Chairman.

But ask yourself one thing: if a GOP campaign was pulling the stunts through sock puppets that Hillary is, what would the headlines look like?   The spokepeople of the black community; what would they be saying on the political programs?

Fred’s Done, as am I.

Posted by Mike O on January 22, 2008

I just went back into polical retirment, where I’d been since 1988.  Fred was the only thing that brought me out.  Thanks for the try, Fred.  The Reagan coalition is indeed dead and this country is headed down the path of the Roman Empire.

In March, I will put a gas mask on march down to the polls, cast my vote for Mitt and hurry home to take a long bath with Lava soap. In November, I’ll join the Bataan Death March into the polls, hoping we don’t quite reach the level of the 1964 Goldwater debacle.

At least my family can find asylum in either Asia or Africa, if things continue to fall apart.

A depressing day for FredHeads

Posted by Mike O on January 20, 2008

I don’t think we’re as delusional as the Paulbots, so those of us who see Fred fighting so hard to barely get a third place (for now; 75% reporting) have to read the writing on the wall.  Fred will likely stay in through February 5th, in case of a sufficiently brokered convention.  But it’s not likely he’ll be able to mount anything of a campaign.  I’m fairly sure he’ll still be on the ballot in Texas in March, so I’ll cast my vote for someone I can believe in, but things look like thay’re working out to be a McCain, Romney fight, with Huckabee being a possible spoiler for Mitt.

Looks like the machinery is still behind Hillary, so I feel she’ll pull it out in the end- using the leverage she surely has with her knowledge of the dirty little secrets of most of the super-delegates.  Either McCain or Romney would be naturally be better that ms. Vindictive, but underestimating the Clinton machine would be a serious mistake.

Still got China and Uganda as asylums, if need be :)

Another Reason I like Fred.

Posted by Mike O on January 18, 2008

He can deal with any kind of question and knows the equipment a LOT of us would like to take to- and use in- Washington DC.

Did you ever see the movie ‘Walking Tall‘?” he said, referring to the 1973 action flick about Buford Pusser, a Tennessee sheriff who single-handedly rid his town of crime and corruption. “You know the ax handle that old Buford used to carry? I got me one of them. I knew Buford Pusser. His daughter gave me one of those ax handles and I still got it. I thought about it many, many times. There’s a lot you can do with that.

The Difference between a Leader and a Politician

Posted by Mike O on January 15, 2008

One of the reasons I’m a FredHead to the end is because I’m really sick of politicians using weasal words to mask core truths.  We need leadership, not politics.

Fred was asked about what would be be able to do about energy independence. His response: “Not much; I only would have two terms.”

As one who understands the industrial processes involved, I know that answer is absolutely correct. And the government doing ’something’ about it is the wrong answer, anyway. It’s the truthful answer of a leader who believes in the power of the market over the power of government; it’s not the answer a politician like Mitt would give.

The Global War on Terror is indeed very Global

Posted by Mike O on January 13, 2008

Looks like the government of Uganda deserves some kudos, apparently stopping a major Al-Qaeda attack during the Commonwealth meeting in Kampala.  As much time as I’ve spent in Uganda, I was worried whether the Ugandan security forces were up to protecting so many VIPs in the insanity that is Kampala.  Good thing they were.

Fred came out with both barrels!

Posted by Mike O on January 11, 2008

I didn’t know they had a public display of the shotgun Fred used on Huckabee  and the other candidates:

both_barrels.jpg

And he can be Presidential and humorous in one phrase

The focus group gave the debate to Fred! enthusiastically.  Ron Paul, they just as enthusiatically panned.

It was gruesome;  the FRED! laid waste to all opposition!  That was a 9 out of 10 performance, Romney score a 6.5 at best for second  place.  Here’s hoping South Carolina GOP voters were watching!

UPDATE: OK, Folks; those big guns need to be locked and loaded: TIME TO DONATE TO FRED! if you want a consistently conservative candidate to keep marching on.
